The typical Indian women’s wear, saree

Wednesday, 29 December 2010 The typical Indian women’s wear, saree, which have travelled world wide, is still making a style statement on the ramp. Keeping in mind the Indian ethnicity and cultural values, leading designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee showcased his creations in the recently held Handloom Fashion Week 2010 in Chennai. Actress Shreya Saran and Indrani Dasgupta walked the ramp to showcase his creation. Shreya Saran wore a green designer handloom saree with embroidery zari border paired with full sleeve embellished matching blouse. The aim of the fashion week held in Chennai was to establish Indian designers in the international market.

Along with Sabyasachi, other designers like Vikram Phadnis, Sanchita Ajjampur and Pria Kataaria Puri showed their lines. The international element of the fashion week was made up by hat designer Louis Marriete of London, a shoe label Rachael G of Singapore and a name each from Dubai and Mauritius. Interestingly Sanjana Jon was made out to be the ‘American Designer’. She has made rapid progress from gate-crashing into FDCI Wills’ India Fashion Week with huge sponsorships and a film star line-up to now establishing herself as an American designer.
